ABOUT US
Bridge Eye Care has been part of the Murray Bridge community since the late 1940s, after World War II, when a visiting Optometrist began conducting eye examinations from the Town Hall. Under the umbrella of Opticians SA, for many years the practice was located in Seventh Street. We moved to our current location in 2024.
Today Bridge Eye Care is a modern practice owned by Optometrists Kelly O’Brien and Kristin Guppy. Together with our skilled and friendly team, we provide comprehensive eye care, along with offering an extensive selection of eyewear.

I love my job at Bridge Eye Care. I was born and raised in Brisbane, Queensland. I was inspired to study optometry by my uncle who practised in Townsville. He told me “Have a job that involves talking to people – people’s stories are always interesting”. I studied optometry at Queensland University of Technology and then moved to Tasmania for my first job. A beautiful state, but a little cold for a Queenslander! I later moved to Melbourne which I also loved but was a little too big and busy. I moved to Adelaide in 1999 and haven’t looked back. I love my job in Bridge Eye Care because I find eyes fascinating and I enjoy problem solving. And my uncle was right – people’s stories are interesting. Outside of work, I enjoy jogging and I am also trying to learn to surf.
Kelly O'Brien
Optometrist, Director
I completed my Optometry degree in 1998 and moved from Brisbane back to my hometown of Adelaide. After receiving a scholarship from OPSM whilst studying, I worked for them at various locations for seven years. Duncan Barnett then offered me a job I couldn’t refuse and so began my time at Bridge Eye Care. Two children later, and after some time spent working in Adelaide, I am now proud to return to Bridge Eye Care as a co-owner and consulting Optometrist three days a week. When not at work, I enjoy keeping fit and spending time with my family and friends. Meeting truly interesting people and facing challenges, both in business and related to people’s eyes, is what I look forward to every day.

Originally from London in the UK, I’ve happily traded the grey skies for Australia and the charm of Murray Bridge. After spending time in Melbourne, regional Victoria and Sydney’s Northern Beaches, I’m proud to now call this wonderful, welcoming community home.
With over 20 years of experience in the optical industry, I’m passionate about delivering high‑quality, personalised eye care. I believe great vision isn’t one‑size‑fits‑all; it’s about understanding your lifestyle, your needs, and what matters most to you. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing the difference clear, comfortable vision can make in someone’s daily life.
When I’m not in the practice, you’ll likely find me out walking my energetic kelpie cross, Brax, enjoying the fresh air and the balance of rural living.
